Order a repeat prescription
Prescription requests received by the surgery will be sent to your nominated pharmacy the next working day. The pharmacies have asked that you allow a further 3-5 days prior to collecting your medication(s), although exceptions can be made in extreme circumstances.
Please order repeat prescriptions in good time to avoid unnecessary delays.
Repeat prescriptions – how it works
You can order repeat prescriptions via Patient Access (after registering for this service via the surgery), by emailing the surgery at fife.egertonprescriptions@nhs.scot, via one of the local pharmacies, or by placing a request through the practice's letterbox or dropping the request into the box at reception. Please note that both the practice and Well Pharmacy do not accept prescription requests over the telephone.
The email address is for prescription orders only. Please include:
- Full Name
- Date of Birth
- Address
- Mobile Number
- Medication & Strength
- Preferred Pharmacy (Kirkcaldy)
Repeat prescription can take 3 working days whilst non-repeats may take longer. Any email that does not have the above information and/or includes request out with repeat prescriptions may not be actioned.
Pharmacy collection
Where possible, prescriptions are sent electronically to your nominated pharmacy. Please check with your pharmacy before contacting the practice to ensure your prescription is ready.
Medication reviews
Some medications need to be reviewed regularly to make sure they are still safe and appropriate. If your medication review is due, your prescription may be limited or delayed until this has been completed. We will contact you if an appointment or review is required.
What cannot be issued on repeat
Not all medications can be issued as repeat prescriptions. This includes:
- medications prescribed for short‑term or acute problems
- some pain relief, sleeping tablets, or antibiotics
- items that require a clinical review before re‑issue
If you are unsure, please contact the practice for advice.
Urgent medication requests
Urgent prescription requests should be avoided wherever possible. If you believe you need medication urgently, please contact the practice and explain the reason. Requests will be reviewed based on clinical need.
Blood test results and queries
If you need to check blood test results or have a query about your medication, please contact the practice after 11.00am, when phone lines are less busy.
