Under the Freedom of Information (Scotland) Act 2002, GP practices are classed as public authorities. This means that members of the public have the right to request access to recorded information that we hold, subject to certain exemptions.

This practice has adopted the Model Publication Scheme approved by the Scottish Information Commissioner. The scheme sets out the types of information we routinely make available to the public and how this information can be accessed.

Freedom of Information requests can be made in writing by email or letter. Requests should include your name, contact details, and a clear description of the information you are requesting.

We aim to respond to Freedom of Information requests within 20 working days, as required by law. Information is normally provided free of charge, although a reasonable fee may be charged in line with FOI legislation for copying or postage.

Some information is exempt from disclosure under the Freedom of Information (Scotland) Act 2002. This includes personal data and confidential medical information. Requests for access to your own medical records must be made under data protection legislation and not through Freedom of Information.
